Welcome to the Indian Institute of Alternative Medicines.
The Indian Institute of Alternative Medicines is an internationally acclaimed pioneer institute of alternative, complementary and holistic medicines with over 80,000 students (past and present strength) from all over the world. The Institute has been duly registered under the Government of India Act.
We are an educational academy imparting teachings through correspondence / distance education on the different alternative medical therapies. Our courses - diploma, bachelor and postgraduate / doctorate, are being pursued by an increasing number of students from all over the country and worldwide.
We also organize 7 - 10 day Practical Training Workshops on general medicine application (checking up patients, conducting practical examinations, reading laboratory reports, checking the lungs, heart, kidney, pulse, etc, usage of stethoscope and blood pressure instruments, etc) and Clinical Training in various alternative therapies (acupressure, acupuncture, hypnotherapy, yoga, naturopathy, reiki, magneto therapy, massage, etc.) in the Institute every month beginning the 5th. Our students can attend these optional training programs at any time during the course or upon its completion.
Our institution has within it besides staff, a number of senior and experienced Advisors and Patrons including the Hon'ble Former President of Costa Rica, Hon'ble Union Minister for Educational and Social Welfare, Govt. of India, Hon'ble Minister of Charge, Dept. of Parliamentary Affairs, Hon'ble Judge from Calcutta High Court, Hon'ble Judge from Germany and Governors of different states of India besides renowned practitioners from USA, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, etc.,Faculty members , Instructors, etc. adding to a total of knowledge not to be usually found in any other institution of a similar nature.

We are affiliated with the Indian Board of Alternative Medicines which is legally constituted, internationally recognized and the largest institution of alternative medicine in India duly incorporated under Act XXVI of 1961 of Government of West Bengal, based on the Central Government Act XXI of 1860, Literary & Scientific Institutions Act, 1854 and The International Association of Educators for World Peace, an affiliate of United Nations, UNICEF & UNESCO. The institute is a member of the Open International Council for Open and Distance Education, Norway (affiliated to UNESCO).
The institute is also maintaining mutual co-operation and affiliation with several prestigious organizations worldwide.
The Diploma, Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate programs are duly chartered under the memorandum which has been accepted by the concerned department for registration. The rights of the practitioners of Alternative Medicine are duly protected under Article 19 of the Constitution of India.
Successful and trained students of the Institute can practice and profess the various systems of Alternative Medicines as per the Board's Rules and Regulations.
As part of our strategy to disseminate and propagate alternative medicines, we regularly organize international conferences, seminars, symposiums and exhibitions. These events are an annual feature and provide the students with a platform to exchange ideas and information, interact with doctors and therapists of international repute and generally broaden their horizons.
Besides the numerous stalwarts from the field of alternative medicines, our conferences and graduation ceremonies have come to the attention of international figures and dignitaries from around the world who have been most forthcoming in their praise and support of these events. Prominent amongst those who have expressed their support are the WHO, UNICEF, UNESCO, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the President and Vice-President of India, Government Ministers and international world renowned personalities such as Mother Teresa, the Dalai Lama, Queen Elizabeth, Rev. Desmond Tutu and UN Secretary Generals. The importance of these occasions is amply reflected by the participation of Mother Teresa, state governors, union and state level ministers, chief justices, judges and diplomats.
Healing is an act of love, and act of universal benevolence. To study alternative medicines or holistic medicine or traditional medicine at Indian Institute of Alternative Medicines is to take the first important step in the challenging and rewarding journey of becoming a healer.
When you begin our programs, you will quickly realize that your own all round development is essential to becoming a true practitioner of holistic medicine. As you study, you will also deepen and expand your spiritual evolvement through our programs.
